SUMMARY:It Can Wait
DESCRIPTION:It Can Wait \n\nSponsored by AT&T\, The Zanesville-Muskingum Co. Safety Council\, and the Chamber of Commerce\n\n\n\nMost people admit that texting while driving is dangerous. But many do it anyway. As our phones and our relationship with them have changed\, smartphone use while driving has grown beyond texting to social media\, web surfing\, selfies\, video chatting and more. It is a growing problem on our roadways.\n\n\n\nAT&T will give a presentation called "It Can Wait" which focuses on the dangers of texting and driving\, as well as engaging in other activities on your smartphone while driving. State legislators who passed the texting while driving law in Ohio will be invited to offer remarks. A state trooper who has seen accidents caused by these distracted driving activities will also be one of the speakers. Included is a video which reflects the life-altering effects sending or reading that one text\, email or post can have on you\, your family\, friends and others.\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter the presentation above\, attendees will be able to try texting and driving using a virtual reality driving simulator. Driver Experience: Drivers will be seated in a car with virtual reality goggles on their head. The goggles play a video experience that mimics texting while driving. Texts will appear in the image of the phone on the bottom of the video seen through the goggles. No physical phone is used\, instead the video simulates the movement of the eyes-off-the-road and hands-off-the-wheel experience of texting while driving\, causing the vehicle to swerve. A single experience lasts around 2 minutes.\n\n\n\nSafety Council Members: Attendance at this meeting counts as an official council meeting toward the 10 required if you are working toward earning the rebate.\n\n\n\nPresentation 9:30 a.m. Simulator 9:50-10:30 a.m.\n\nAll Chamber members and guests invited to try the Simulator from 10:30-1 p.m. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMAKE AN RESERVATION ONLINE NOW
